Job Description:

This position supports Lamb Westons Journey to Zero by providing clear, concise, and relevant technical leadership to Global Engineering and Operations. The successful applicant will develop, document, and promote the company refrigeration strategic vision. Responsibilities focus on assessment and documentation of existing systems, laying out company strategic direction for refrigeration, and direction and support of related projects and best practices. Other areas of accountability center on long-term support and sustainability of freezing systems and include preparation of studies, reports, schedules, budgets, inspections, bid requests, evaluation of bid submittals, direction and coordination of contractors, and project closeouts and analysis. As refrigeration SME (subject matter expert), this position also serves as a consultant to others to provide technical information and engineering recommendations. A key responsibility is the review of design and project documentation to ensure compliance with performance criteria, company standards, and best practices. Additionally, this role will spend 75% of time supporting the plants to improve asset utilization by reducing unplanned mechanical downtime of the refrigeration systems and cooling/freezing systems. As leader of the Lamb Weston refrigeration strategy, conducts feasibility studies for emerging technologies, determines viability for use within the Lamb Weston framework, and develops engineering specifications for implementation of the technologies. This job requires a high level organizational and communication skills and is responsible for development and training Lamb Weston associates in best practices for effective and efficient refrigeration system usage. This is based out of our Kennewick, Washington, engineering office.Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead enterprise refrigeration system initiatives, resources, and long-term strategies.
  • Serve as leader and mentor through focused technical expertise and innovation.
  • Provide guidance and development on best practices for plant refrigeration systems.
  • Coach, teach, and train operations and maintenance teams on refrigeration fundamentals and advanced operational skills.
  • Audit effectiveness of overall program and condition of our refrigeration facilities.
  • Identify and promote energy savings and system improvement opportunities.
  • Accountable for timely, accurate and effective optimization of refrigeration and freezing systems.
  • Accountable for timely, precise, and efficient improvement of refrigeration and freezing system asset utilization through the reduction/elimination of unplanned mechanical downtime.
  • Develop and advance professional capabilities of the department.
  • Leadership of project teams in effective project implementations.
  • Meet or exceed project quality, cost, schedule and performance metrics.Position Requirements:
    • BS or MS in Engineering.
    • Professional Engineering licensing and/or accreditation is required.
    • 10+ years of experience in refrigeration systems to include the design, installation, operation, and optimization of refrigeration and freezing systems.
    • Experience in project management and maintenance engineering is preferred.
    • Food processing experience is desired.
    • Experience in energy savings and sustainability initiatives within the refrigeration arena.
    • PSM and regulatory ASME.
    • Manufacturing plant experience in production/quality assurance/support is preferred.
    • Must be detail orientated, possess excellent technical and analytical skills, and be a proven self-starter.
    • Demonstrated capability to lead and work on teams and support others.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in desktop applications to include Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time on average with peaks potentially exceeding that amount for some duration.Physical Requirements:Incumbent must have the ability to effectively perform all of the following physical demands without assistance:
      • Sitting for up to 8 hours a day
      • Lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (up to 25 pounds infrequently).
      • Walking on various manufacturing facility surfaces
      • Climbing up ladders and stairs
      • Exposed to plant noises and vibrations
      • Temperature changes from hot to cold depending on work area
      • Ability to safely operate a Company vehicle.
