Job Description:
Description SCOPE: The Fleet Manager is responsible for
overseeing and ensuring the company's adherence to Department of
Transportation (DOT) regulations, along with other
industry-specific compliance standards, across all facets of fleet
operations. This role requires a deep understanding of
transportation regulations, safety protocols, and effective
management skills to maintain compliance and safety within the
fleet. The Fleet Manager will manage both the internal and external
fleet maintenance teams and vendors to ensure our repair and
maintenance standards are met. This role will also coordinate other
duties of the department as needed. SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES &
DELIVERABLES Act as liaison between Christensen, Inc., and all
repair vendors. Collaborate with the Operations teams to establish
maintenance and repair standards for company owned, assigned fleet
and equipment. Keep the Operations teams and management up to date
with any changes or policies regarding fleet maintenance and
standards. Maintain electronic databases and documentation of
sales, registration, renewals, inspections, and maintenance of
fleet management. Establish proper maintenance standards and
intervals. Partner with HSSE on common initiatives. Code
maintenance and digitally preserve repair invoices to be paid by
AP. Establish relationships with 3 rd party service facilities to
provide maintenance and repair services for fleets in OR/WA/ID and
other states as needed. Negotiate aggressive pricing for labor and
parts. Provide fleet efficiency reports regularly and upon request
by truck, division, location, and other breakdowns as necessary.
Assist IT Department with creating integrations between our
software systems and Fleet maintenance system(s). Participate in
various PMO supported projects related to our fleet. Manage vendors
of various systems utilized on or to support the fleet, such as
Fleetio, Motive, and Azuga LEADERSHIP & TEAM REACH This position
will report to the VP Physical Assets and will maintain an
effective working relationship with all members of the Physical
Asset, Maintenance, Risk and Safety teams. Manage and coach direct
reports which include Fleet Compliance Coordinator(s), Shop
Manager(s), Mechanics, and others as applicable. Direct reports are
located throughout our geography. Complete Performance Assessments,
including mid-year reports and be actively engaged in the
development of your team. Participate in management training,
educational sessions, certification courses and other company
events. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Technology Oriented: Proven
capability in use of MS Office Word and Excel. Expertise in DOT
Regulations: Thorough knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulations (FMCSRs) and DOT compliance requirements. Communication
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to
convey complex DOT regulations and maintenance requirements clearly
and effectively to various stakeholders. Ability to effectively
communicate with vendors and maintenance teams regarding the
functionality and requirements of our various types of vehicles in
our fleet. Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in analyzing data to
identify compliance gaps and implement effective solutions.
Demonstrated experience in preparing budgets, lease interpretation
and year-end reconciliations. Leadership and Management: Strong
leadership skills to oversee compliance efforts, delegate tasks,
and manage compliance-related projects. Detail-Oriented:
Meticulousness in maintaining accurate records and ensuring
compliance with various regulations. Adaptability: Ability to
adjust strategies and policies in response to evolving regulations
and industry changes. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree
in a related field and extensive experience in fleet management,
compliance, or a similar role, preferably with a focus on Fleet
Management and DOT regulations. PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Operates
in a professional office environment. Regularly required to stand,
walk, sit for long periods of times, talk, and hear. Repeating
motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, with the
ability to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the
ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20
