Job Description:

The Chemical Dependency Specialist functions as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary team and provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services with special emphasis on substance use assessment and intervention and consultation to the team.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 
  
• Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences required.
  
• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients served in the department.
  
• One (1) year of training in substance abuse assessment and treatment or at least One (1) year of supervised experience and 40 hours of training in substance abuse treatment. Experience in mental health evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation given strong preference.
  
• Must have or apply within 7 days of start date for the Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor; must obtain within 60 days of start date. Must have/obtain a current Washington State Driver's License with reliable personal transportation and Liability Insurance. Chemical Dependency Professional in Washington State preferred.
  
• Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred and ability to work with culturally diverse population.
  
• Must have a clear understanding of the characteristics and problems of adults with severe mental illnesses and knowledge of the PACT model. Must have and maintain a cell phone to use for business purposes, as a monthly stipend will be provided towards a cell phone.
  
• Evidence of support and fundamental belief in National Consensus Statement on Mental Health Recovery.
